It’s No Glitter
Glitter is an assortment of small, reflective particles that come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. Glitter particles reflect light at different angles, causing the surface to sparkle or shimmer. It is like confetti, sparkles, and sequins, but somewhat smaller. Because of its small size, it’s often difficult, sometimes impossible, to get rid of. Glitter has gotten such a bad rap, it is even known as “the herpes of arts and crafts”. Why? Because, like herpes, it is found nearly everywhere and there is no getting rid of it once you’ve encountered it. Both are annoying and never come off your skin. Both can be transmitted via skin to skin contact with anyone who has it on them. That’s got to be rough, having such a bad stigma. As similar as glitter and herpes are, let’s face it, when you have herpes, it’s no glitter. Herpes is a common virus caused by the herpes simplex virus, which can be transmitted orally or sexually. Though it can bring you down and seem like the end of the world, I promise you it’s not. It’s not as pretty as glitter, it’s annoying and emotionally draining, but do not let herpes steal your sparkle.

Our Purpose
It’s No Glitter strives to be a source of strength for those who are newly diagnosed and feel this is the end of the world. This is an outlet for you to find hope and further educate you on your new diagnosis. You are not alone in your journey, and it gets better. Not only is this an educational platform for the newly diagnosed, but also anyone who wants to learn more about sexually transmitted infections (STI) and/or those who may have a loved one with an incurable STI.
There is healing and redemption after being diagnosed with an STI because Jesus loves us and died for all of us to forgive us of our sins, even those that seem unforgivable. I hope you come here to educate yourself and your loved ones, start your process of healing, find your joy in Jesus, learn to love yourself, and find your self-worth, despite your diagnosis.
Having herpes does not identify you, His love does. Though having herpes may have changed your life, do not let it have your life.
Three years into my diagnosis, I knew it was my calling from God to let my hurt help others in my situation and I would be giving Him the glory. I hope with It’s No Glitter people can find what they are looking for and have peace of mind with their diagnosis. I aim to help educate all with and without it and to spread awareness and information to help break the negative stigma.
Herpes is extremely common; whether you have HSV-1 or HSV-2, you are not alone, and this site is for you. The depression rate after finding out a person has herpes is alarming and it breaks my heart. If being openly public about my herpes prevents even one person from attempting suicide after a new diagnosis or helps educate someone from getting it in the first place, or unknowingly transmit it, then being open is all worth it.
Mission Statement
The purpose of It’s No Glitter is to help support those who are living with herpes or any other incurable STI; to show love, compassion, and create a healing environment; to spread awareness to educate those who have herpes and to those who don’t; and to minimize transmission and end the negative stigma.
